AEDLE VK-1

These retro-styled minimalist headphones are about as sleek as cans come. Made from aircraft-grade aluminium and handsewn lambskin leather, they’ll be comfortable and hardwearing, too.
And inside? A neodymium magnet and titanium diaphragm make sweet love to your lug holes. There’s even a microphone for making the nattiest handsfree calls in town.

IPHONE 5

It’s still riding high, despite being under attack from more impressive competition than ever before. iOS 6.1 lets you download individual songs from iCloud for iTunes Match, though we still can’t order cinema tickets through Siri, like our American cousins.
That 4-inch screen on the iPhone 5 looks a little small now compared to bigger Android rivals, but it’s the software that many can’t live without.

KINDLE PAPERWHITE

Amazon’s first ebook reader with a light-up screen is perfect for reading in the dark. The Kindle Paperwhite screen has 62% more pixels, and 25% better contrast, meaning text is clearer than ever.
Wi-Fi lets you download on the go, or opt for the 3G version (£60 more) to snaffle tomes wherever you are. Even with the light on, the battery will last eight weeks too, and it’ll hold 1,100 ebooks, which should satisfy even the keenest of bookworms.

GOOGLE CHROMEBOOK PIXEL

Featuring a stark, all-aluminium body and light-sensing backlit keyboard, the Pixel is undoubtedly a wonderful piece of engineering. Chief among it's most beautiful features is a Retina Display-beating, 2560x1700, 12.85-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen.
As for power, a 1.8GHz dualcore i5 and 4GB RAM are more than sufficient to run Chrome’s stripped-down OS, which naturally provides easy access to Google Mail, YouTube, Google Drive and even Google+, on the off-chance that humanity decides to use it.

BLACKBERRY Z10

With 4G and one of the best on-screen keyboards to date, the BlackBerry Z10 is one hell of a start for the new operating system. The 4.2-inch screen dwarfs the iPhone 5’s, and BBM has been given a makeover, making it better than ever.
The only downside is a lack of apps compared to iOS and Android, but we’re sure that’ll change. The OS also means you’ll be doing a lot less jumping back to the homescreen, instead opening new apps from within others, which speeds things up considerably

SONOS PLAYBAR

This Sonos Playbar sits below your telly, and connects to your Sonos network as well as your home cinema system, so it can soundtrack your movies or be on musical duties for the lounge part of your party.
It has nine speakers in all: six mid-woofers and three tweeters, so explosions should be suitably tie-blown-over-the-shoulder. You can control it with the app on your iOS or Android device.

NOKIA LUMIA 920

The top Windows Phone 8 handset from the Finnish mobile maker has a cradle for wireless charging, just like an electric toothbrush. The Nokia Lumia 920 uses the same PureView imaging tech as the 808, though with a more modest 8.7-megapixel sensor. City Lens highlights points of interest as you take pictures, and you should be able to fit plenty on-screen on that 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display.

SAMSUNG NX300

3D images? From a single lens? That’s right, just flip the switch on the side of the special lens, and liquid crystal doors block light from one side then the other – images from each side are interlaced, and hey presto, 3D!
Snaps on the Samsung NX300 will have depth when viewed on any 3D TV, but even if you’re not fussed, there’s plenty to love about this 20.3-megapixel snapper. Like a hybrid AF system that speeds up focus. And Wi-Fi, with a Smart Camera App to give you all the sharing options you could need.

NINTENDO WII U

HD graphics, a 6.2-inch GamePad that lets you play anywhere in your house, or doubles as a touch controller when playing on the telly, more than 100 games already and new 3D Mario and Mario Kart at E3

SONY OLED 4K TV

This will be the world's first Ultra High Definition television that uses Organic LEDs, with a native 3,840 x 2,160 OLED panel.
The 56-inch set gives outstanding detail and high-quality image, and experts are saying it will change the way we watch television for good. Again, no release date or price has been mentioned - but technology fans are desperate to get their hands on the newest piece of TV tech.

PANASONIC VIERA WT60

The nicest telly on this list that any of us might actually buy, this 3D-ready, full HD 1080p colossus is graced with VIERA Connect smart tech, meaning plentiful film, music and social services at your fingertips.
Panasonic's Swipe and Share 2.0 means transferring content back and forth from TV to mobile devices and a built-in camera means it's primed for transatlantic chat.

SONY XPERIA Z

With a 5-inch, 1080p screen, Sony’s new Bravia Engine 2, and a waterproof chassis, this Android-running Sony Xperia Z is one of the finest smarties of recent years. It’s slim too, at just 7.9mm, and can survive a half-hour dunk in the drink.
On imaging duties, there’s a 13-megapixel snapper (capable of 1080p vids), and a 2-megapixel front-facer (that records in 720p), along with burst mode that shoots 10 frames a second. 4G and NFC are on-board too, making this a true mobile powerhouse.

FUJIFILM X100S

This retro-styled camera brings together the best of traditional photography and its digital counterpart.
With a 16.3MP X-Trans CMOS sensor and on-chip phase detection, the X100S now has a better autofocus speed than previous models. This is supported by a new processor, the 'EXR Processor II', which includes a new 'Lens Modulation Optimiser' function.
With an improved user interface and viewfinder, this is a serious camera for serious photographers.

SONY PLAYSTATION 4

Sony have only given tantalising details of the PS4, but by all accounts it will provide a new boost for gaming.
The controller has replaced some buttons with touchscreen technology, and the console now has a share function which lets you record, edit and upload gaming footage and share it online with friends.
Industry analysts say that they don’t expect to see one until the E3 gaming expo this June, and will probably be released in December.

NVIDIA PROJECT SHIELD

This portable gaming device claims to redefine gaming on the go. The Android gadget, with top-of-the-range audio and visual quality, lets you play high-quality games away from your home.
Running Android Jelly Bean on the world’s fastest mobile processor, the Tegra 4, Project Shield has caused a serious buzz in the portable gaming community, if that’s a thing.
It packs a five-inch, 720p touchscreen and console-grade controls, while lucky owners of GeForce GTX-based PCs can use it to stream Steam titles remotely, in an OnLive stylee.
You can also connect the device to your PC using wifi, so you can play your favourite games without having to get off the couch.
It's still in development, but should be shipping to the USA and Canada in the second half on 2013. Nvidia say they want to ship to other countries, including the UK, as soon as they can after launch.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S4

Among new feature is the Galaxy S4's remote technology which allows users to control functions without touching the screen.
"Smart pause" means people can pause a video by looking away from the screen, while "smart scroll" lets users scroll through emails without touching the screen, the S4 detecting the movements of the eyes and wrist.
Users can also change music tracks or accept a call with a simple wave of a hand.
The Galaxy S will be rolled out globally at the end of April, and will be available on several different contracts.
